Operation of Advanced Press Bend for Lamination (APBL) furnace in Maizuru Plant

President Katsuji Fujimoto praying for safe operation

NSG’s existing facilities were struggling to cope with the increasing demand for thinner automotive glass and automotive glass featuring exposed edges and high-precision profiles. The company thus decided to bring in a cutting-edge laminated glass furnace from Pilkington. Known as an Advanced Press Bend for Lamination (APBL), the furnace entered into operation at the Maizuru Plant in May 2005. The APBL furnace contributed significantly to the development of a range of innovative car designs through its ability to process large-size glass, as well as carry out high-precision profile processing even when glass is bent deeply.
