Installation of online CVD (chemical vapor deposition) equipment in Chiba Plant

With the adoption of the Kyoto Protocol at the 1997 Convention on Climate Change, photovoltaic power generation systems began to attract attention. In response to the demands of the time and the need to expand production of sheet glass for thin-film solar cells, NSG fitted the Chiba Plant with online CVD equipment in November 1998. Online CVD equipment incorporates the CVD method into the float glass production process. The production line deposits raw vapor on the high-temperature surface of the glass, creating an electrode membrane through pyrolysis. Using this equipment, it is also possible to create a low-E glass membrane, enabling improved functionality and productivity for technical insulated double glazing or vacuum glazing.
