Establishment of NH Techno Glass Corporation, a TFT-LCD glass substrate company

The 1990s saw a boom in the market for TFT (Thin Film Transistor) systems for use in LCDs, which enabled higher definition and faster refresh rates. In May 1991, as a joint venture with HOYA Corporation, the company established NH Techno Glass Corporation, a manufacturer and distributor of TFT glass substrate. Headquartered in Yokohama, its production facilities were located at NSG’s Yokkaichi Plant. As demand for TFT displays continued to grow, in addition to enlarging its facilities at the Yokkaichi Plant, the company also expanded its operations on the global market with a series of new production hubs in Taiwan, Singapore and Korea.
