Establishment of the joint venture Nihon Micro G Wool

In 1987, seeking to strengthen its short glass fiber business, the company founded Nihon Micro G Wool Co. Ltd., a joint venture with Nihon Cement Co. Ltd. (now Taiheiyo Cement Corporation). Short glass fiber, which has a variety of applications in residential and office buildings as well as factories, was in growing demand. The two companies had previously been manufacturing and marketing short fiber separately, but by combining their operations, they were able to claim a leading share of the Japanese market and increase their competitiveness. In 1994, the company changed its name to MAG Co. Ltd., and its results continued to improve.
