In September 1985, the company launched REFSHINE™, a revolutionary high-efficiency heat-reflecting glass used to design high-rise building exteriors. REFSHINE™ is made by depositing a homogeneous, ultra-durable reflective tinted coating on the surface of float sheet glass using the sputtering method. This dramatically increases energy efficiency, while also enabling a mirror effect for visible light, meaning the building's windows reflect the surrounding scenery. With the building’s appearance changing constantly, depending on the time of day, season and weather, REFSHINE™ contributes to the creation of a beautiful cityscape.
