Launch of REFLITE™ heat-reflecting glass

NHK Broadcasting Center installed with REFLITE™

The heat-reflecting glass REFLITE™ was launched in 1972. REFLITE™ is produced by spraying a metallic compound solution during the float plate glass manufacturing process and then pyrolytically baking a reflective metal oxide coating onto the surface of the glass. By reflecting solar radiation while allowing in a suitable amount of visible light, it reduces cooling loads, enabling excellent cost efficiency. REFLITE™ also creates a distinctive half-mirror effect, enabling the window glass on buildings to reflect the surrounding scenery and create a unique appearance.
