Resuming Production after the War

Following the war, manufacturing operation was stopped at the Futajima and Yokkaichi plants because their polished plate glass and safety glass were classified as military supplies. However, Fumio Nakamura, president, thought this was wrong as he was filled with a sense of mission to “supply sheet glass as soon and as much as possible to help accelerate Japan’s reconstruction.”
Soon, despite a shortage of raw material, both plants resumed operation to produce 90,000 boxes of sheet glass in just four months, topping the government order for 80,000 boxes by the end of 1945.
