Weiherhammer I, the first German float line outside of North Rhine-Westphalia came on stream in October 1979. With the ramp-up of this third float line, the last of the Fourcault furnaces of the Flachglas AG in Witten were about to be shut down. The only one remaining in Witten became a special furnace for particularly thin glass and worked until 1991.
