In 1970, the company began full-fledged research into soundproofing and acoustic insulation. From then on, it released various soundproofing products as it developed sound-related technology and expertise. In 1978, the company established its Environment operation in response to the sudden increase in soundproofing business, and expanded its business around two main pillars: acoustic architecture for residences, studios and multipurpose halls, and soundproofing for factories and roads. In February 1988, the Environment operation became a separate new company, Nippon Sheet Glass Environment Amenity Co. Ltd. Based on the corporate concept of “building a pleasant environment for the 21st century,” this company contributes to society in a variety of fields including acoustics, soundproofing, and electromagnetic-wave shielding systems.
