Opening the second float line in Chiba

Sheet glass finally produced through float process

In response to the rising domestic and international demand for high-quality sheet glass, a second float line was built in the Chiba plant in August 1970. With an increased automation and computerization, the new float line provided a larger production capacity. With this addition, the Chiba Plant became a three-furnace operation, including a regular sheet glass furnace first operated in 1964 and a template glass furnace that started operations in 1969.
