Completion of the Osaka headquarters building

Headquarters building

Although the construction of the new headquarters building in Osaka’s Midosuji area was decided in 1950, tightened monetary policies at the time significantly delayed the start of construction until 1959 and the building was completed in May 1961. The first building in Japan to use a curtain-wall system in which every surface was paneled with glass, the new NSG headquarters was called as the “Glass Palace” with the ability to resist earthquakes.
