Establishment of Nippon Safety Glass

Kawasaki Plant of Nippon Safety Glass Corporation

Due to Japan’s rapid motorization in the 1950s, automotive glass was in high demand. In November 1954, NSG became a full scale automotive safety glass manufacturer when it acquired a plant in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture to establish Nippon Safety Glass Corporation.
The new plant produced automotive glass products from raw glass provided from NSG. The finished products were sold to market by NSG. Additional demands for laminated glass windshields and tempered glass were triggered by the revision of motor vehicle safety regulations in 1956.
