Company named changed to Nippon Sheet Glass

“Hinomaru (Japanese flag)” trademark and new company name

In 1929, Japan was suffering a recession after the financial crisis and the Cabinet of Prime Minister Hamaguchi strongly encouraged the use of domestic products. Because of its name, America Japan Sheet Glass Company, and trademark, NB, it was often misunderstood that the company was an importer of U.S. glass products. The company changed its trademark to a motif of the Japanese flag in 1930 and then changed its name to Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd., following approval at the shareholders’ meeting on January 16, 1931.
