Float furnace for VASA

First thoughts of establishing a small Float glass plant had already been suggested in the late 1960s, but political upheavals in Argentina at the time prompted the British to reject the idea.
With an investment of over 60 million dollars, VASA started manufacturing Float glass in 1986 using Pilkington technology. And on 13 February 1989 at 1 p.m. the first Float sheet was produced. VASA’s was the third Float furnace in South America, a step forward that would provide access to the world markets.
