Edward Ford formed the Edward Ford Plate Glass Company in Rossford, Ohio, a Toledo suburb, and built the largest plate-glass plant in America, where Pilkington North America still operates a glass manufacturing facility. The city was founded by Mr. Ford, who named the city by combining his last name, ‘Ford’, with that of his wife, Caroline ‘Ross’.
